Have You Heard From
Buddy? (We Choose)
By Khabazela Mkhize

Had I fallen?
From fullness to want of pain
As from the bottom wacthing the
top
Waiting
For chance to test till each space
and moment is plane
I choose to live every second in
word magic
Wanting
To free a soul that lingers
Withered
By desire to have and hold
To tell her to live like broken
bottles
Send pieces of ourselves flying
Cutting
At the unkeen hand and heart
Tell her
To go like fluid
Abandon the rules and forget
awkward
I choose to live for the right
reasons
In a thousand years live an
instance
In the whispering beat of a
dreaming ticker build a fleeting
sentence
To intice the playing eye and
playful soul
With words that breathe uncertain
Throb at her essence
Send her being to Love Zero*
Not all poetry can amuse
An adamant addict
In mundane mutinous astound
Always at a drunk
From beauty and a short fuse

Had she fallen?
From effortless to paining want
As from the top wacthing the
bottom
Indulging
In all the things that keep the heart
At an echoing flourish
She chooses to live every second in
the potent magic of beauty
Calling
To all wanting souls
Those Fooled
By the idea that her they can have
and hold
She tells me to live like smoke
Send streams of ourselves floating
Brushing
'Gainst the invented infinity of
space and time
Tells me
To go like the sun rays
Touch her every surface and forget
about the burn
She chooses to live for my reasons
In a thousand words creates an
enlightened kiss
In the beat of my dreaming heart
she builds a world
Invites pure souls to lift
The cooling spirits to this place
with booming laughter
Bangs at my essence
Sends my empty being to Love Zero
All poetry can fill
A child of beauty and astound
In mundane mutinous silence
Always at a drunk
From high grace and the good
words

Had we fallen?
Chosen to live a life of wanting
pain?
When each moment we walk a
refined memory over and over
And over
Lost
In resolution
